Don’t get me wrong. I have nothing against people who feel proud of themselves regardless of their shape and size. However, we should accept the truth no matter how painful it is – that being overweight, most especially being obese, is dangerous.
Following a healthy lifestyle isn’t easy. It takes a lot of will power and discipline to overcome laziness and resist food temptations like ice cream, donuts, cakes, pasta and frappuccinos especially if it’s always staring at you right in the face. God knows how difficult it is to ditch something so delicious.
This is why I admire those people who are making an effort to keep themselves fit and healthy no matter what – like Amber Rachdi of Oregon, USA.
If you had the chance to meet her 270lbs ago, you probably would never have guessed that the overweight woman would look really gorgeous today.
Amber was 24 years old when she reached a whopping 660lbs.
With that weight, she was almost immobilized and could no longer do many things. She had to completely depend on other people and on her electric wheelchair to be able to move about.
Instead of being bitter about it, Amber decided to do something to get her weight under control by joining the series “My 600lb Life.”
She showed determination to lose 22lbs to qualify for gastric bypass surgery. She also moved to Texas to be closer to her doctor and began a healthy eating routine.
One year after the surgery, she had successfully lost 143lbs.
Today, Amber lives independently. She was able to drive again and best of all, her journey has become an inspiration to other people.
Her transformation is indeed absolutely amazing! It is quite impressive how she managed to come out of the experience stronger rather than just feeling sorry for herself.
