‘Anak’ Singer Freddie Aguilar Considering to Run as Senator Under PDP-Laban

Ferdinand Pascual Aguilar or also popularly known as Freddie Aguilar to everyone is a Filipino folk musician who originally performed the worldwide hit-song “Anak.” Freddie is not only popular in the country, he also gained worldwide recognition, earning him the title as one of the best musicians in the Philippines.

The famous Pinoy singer is also a political activist and is best known for his own rendition of Bayan Ko. This song became the anthem for the opposition to the Marcos Regime during the 1986 People Power Revolution.

Freddie Aguilar Running for Senator?

Because of his popularity, it may be not surprising to hear that he will get his hands on politics too.


Recently, Senate President Koko Pimentel said that Freddie Aguilar is being considered to run for the senatorial race under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

The singer was also a member of the party. According to Pimentel, apart from the 65-year-old musician, there are also about 20 other people being considered on PDP-Laban’s senatorial list.
