DUCKIE THOT: The Black Live Barbie Doll That Has Become An Inspiration To Aspiring Models
The 21-year-old, Australian-born, south Sudanese model rose to fame when she joined Australia’s Next Top Model when she was just 17 years old.
She didn’t take the top spot in Australia’s Next Top Model, but she is now one of the World’s hottest fashion models.
At this time and age, people, especially women still get ridiculed because of not looking like the typical doll; blonde hair and fair complexion. They get lambasted and insulted for looking rather odd.
But this Sudanese Australian model who almost bade the fashion world goodbye because of the bullying and sarcasm she had been getting even from known people, should be an inspiration not only from aspiring models but more so for everyone.
Duckie Thot, as she is known in the world of fashion became famous when she joined Australia’s Next Top Model. She was a young seventeen teen-aged girl that time.
She left the fashion world for 2 Yrs. and came back recently with so much noise. People became mystified with her looks and they actually thought she was a living Barbie Doll.
She came back with such an awesome poise and a Barbie like figure.
She told her story on one of her Instagram posts; how as a model, she did not start smoothly because of her dark skin and natural hair. She was even insulted by one of the contestants from the US Top Model search during a photo shoot on an Ad campaign.
She also got humiliated by hair stylists during the Australia’s Next Top Model 2013 when they did not even know how to fix her natural hair. She was so dismayed because that is supposed to be their job. She ended up doing her own hair while the other girls had their own hair stylists.
But look at her now. She’s as famous as can be and even with her dark complexion; she had been mistaken as a live Barbie doll. You can say that she got through it in spite of all the humiliation and ridicule she had received.
