British Woman Jailed For 10 Years for Making False Sex Assault and Rape Claims against 15 Men

A British woman was sentenced to 10 years in prison for several false rape accusations.

Jemma Beale, 25-year-old, of West London, was dubbed “a very, very convincing liar”. When sentencing her, the judge, Nicholas Loraine-Smith mentioned that she is a serial liar who enjoys “being seen as a victim”.

The judge also said that Beale’s false allegations bring a certain risk that a truly sexually assaulted or raped woman may not complain to the police for concern of not being believed.

Beale charged six men for sexual assault and nine men for rape in four different incidents from 2010 to 2012. According to the Guardian, each of the accused people was strangers.

A man, Mahad Cassim, was jailed for 7 years due to one of Beale’s false claims and she received $14,000, for criminal injuries compensation, reported the BBC. Beale’s other claims led to several arrests and even an accused fled the country while he was on bail.

In 2013, Cassim was released from jail after two years and nine months when he appealed his conviction. After investigation, police found evidences that the allegations brought against Cassim were false.

In 2013, detectives investigated into Beale. They found a claim that Beale lied about being raped by a man in Nov 2010. Police stated that the truth came to light when officers investigated a separate claim by Beale where she accused a number of men have raped her during an incident of Nov 2013.

Then, the police officers executed a review of four investigations into allegations of sexual assault and rape brought by Beale. Finally, officers found common inconsistencies as well as similar circumstances within the claims. These discrepancies strengthened their concerns that Beale’s allegations were false.

Southwark Crown Court heard that Beale originated these “chilling” allegations to make her girlfriend envious.

Madeleine Wolfe, the Prosecutor, informed that the court police expended 6,400 hours for investigating these false claims brought by Beale. It costs about £250,000.

According to the report of the Guardian, Lawrence Henderson, Beale’s defense, told the court that she was considering an appeal as his client has maintained her guiltless.
