American singer Chris Brown has been barred from leaving the Philippines on June 22, 2015, Wednesday, after he has been placed under the immigration lookout bulletin order from the Department of Justice.
This lookout bulletin order (LBO) stemmed from an alleged breach of agreement by the 26-year-old R&B singer after he failed to perform in the country at a New Year’s eve concert at the Philippine Arena in 2014. Brown claimed that he needed to cancel the said concert because he lost his passport.
Brown arrived in Manila July 21, Tuesday, for a concert at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena.
According to the reports, the chief legal counsel of Iglesia Ni Cristo and chief operating officer of the Maligaya Development Corp. (MDC), Glicerio Santos IV, has sent a letter to the Department of Justice (DOJ) requesting assistance “for the successful prosecution of the criminal complaint which MDC is lodging.”
Brown, whose real name is Christopher Maurice Brown, was charged by the MDC with estafa over his failure to appear in the said event concert on December 31 last year.
“After making representations that Mr Brown would perform thereat, and after having fully paid for both their services, Mr Brown failed to appear and perform at the concert, to the damage and prejudice of MDC.
“We would appreciate any assistance you can provide to us to protect the interest of MDC, and ultimately, to serve as an example to producers and talents who employ such fraudulent schemes to obtain money from legitimate businesses in the country,” read the letter.

The singer had his concert in Manila on July 21, Tuesday, at the SM MOA Arena, and was expected to fly out from the Philippines through a private plane from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the afternoon the next day.
Based on the report of GMA News, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima on Wednesday confirmed to the media that she has issued an LBO against the American singer.
