iPhone 7 / iPhone 6S Release Date, Specs, New Features, and Rumors

iPhone 7 and iPhone 6S Rumors

It’s been nearly a year since September 2014—that is, since Apple released its latest model of the iPhone: iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. At the same time, it’s also been nearly a year since gadget junkies, businesspeople, amateur photographers, and, people, in general, have waited for the next release of the next model in the smartphone series.

Now that it’s nearing September 2015, the alleged most probable date of Apple’s next release, more and more people on the internet are crazing over “leaked” photographs, e-mails, and rumors regarding the next iPhone model. Today we shall tackle about these news and rumors.

iPhone 6S or iPhone 7?

Indeed that is the question. Apple has released iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 6, and finally iPhone 6 Plus. If we base our assumptions on this pattern, it’s likely that the next model in the series would be called iPhone 6S. But then again, like certain companies, Apple might also skip the numbers and head straight for iPhone 7. Nobody really knows.

iPhone 6S / iPhone 7 features and specs

There have been a lot of rumors about the next iPhone’s features, specs, appearance, and performance, but what is perhaps notable is that of Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst from KGI Securities.

Kuo proposes that the next iPhone is going to have a Force Touch Display, a feature which, simply put, makes the phone more touch- and pressure-sensitive, similar to Apple’s MacBook, Apple Watch, and to the leading brands of graphics tablets. The proposed Force Touch Display is going to be the most revolutionary development of the iPhone, if ever. This feature is going to cause an additional 0.15mm length and 0.2mm width in the phone.

The proposed additional length in the smartphone is also attributed to a larger battery, for an enhanced battery life3. Alongside that, many also claim that the next iPhone will have a Qualcomm LTE chip and 2GB RAM, which would ensure two times faster LTE download speeds.

As for its camera, iPhone 6S/7 is going to have a 12MP rear camera, according to IHS Technology Research Director Kevin Wang2, and some news sites, like the Independent, claim that the front- or selfie-camera might even feature a flash for low-light photography.

Screen sizes are expected to be of the same sizes as the previous models: 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches, according to analyst Kuo1. In addition to that, an alleged improvement in iPhone’s Touch ID feature will take place. Reports from the US Patent and Trademark Office in February this year implied that Apple might have plans in making the whole screen a fingerprint sensor1. If that will ever be the case, then that means Apple can get rid of the home button entirely, and give room for more screen length without making the entire phone any larger.

Despite a myriad of proposed upcoming features and specs, most reports claim that the next iPhone is still going to be in its original three colors: space grey, silver, and gold, and only an additional color—rose gold3—will be added, along with the release of the Apple Watch of the same color.

There are many, many, more predictions and rumors floating around on the Web, but there’s no telling which are true. Of course, whether or not those proposed additional features and specs are true, there’s no telling unless we wait for the actual release, which is said to be on September 8, 2015 or September 25, 2015.
