There is no denying that acne and pimples are among the most common problems of quite a few people across the globe.

Dr. Zharlah Gulmatico-Flores of Philippine Dermatological Society said in DZMM’s “Good Morning Vibes” interview that there are a lot of factors that lead to having acne vulgaries.

Factors

One of the reasons why people are having Acne and Pimples is hormonal changes.

Flores said that when a person is in their puberty stage or when women have menstruation, they suffer from acne or pimples.

When women are also in their menopausal stage, there is also a big chance that they will experience this problem as they also go through hormonal changes.

Flores added that genetics is also a big factor.

Furthermore, stress can lead to having pimples or acne.

“Ang stress kasi, maraming pwedeng gawin ‘yan sa katawan natin,” she said. “From nawawalan ka ng buhok, nagkakaroon ka ng eczema hanggang sa pwede ka rin magkaroon ng pimples.”

So, is toothpaste effective?

Flores debunked the common belief that toothpaste is effective in solving this problem.

She advised the public not to resort to this way as it may cause dermatitis or irritations, that may even worsen the problem.

Effective Tricks

Instead, Flores advised using over-the-counter medicines or those that are recommended by a pharmacist.

She added that it takes a few weeks — specifically, four to eight weeks — to see the result of these medicines.

Of course, it also helps if you lessen your stress in life.

In any case, it is still best to consult an expert, particularly a dermatologist, with regard to your problem.
