Laguna Sangguniang Kabataan youth council to give free school supplies in exchange for plastic bottles
Nagcarlan, Laguna, Philippines — A new project of an SK Council in Nagcarlan Laguna (FB Page) that offers school supplies in exchange for plastic bottles is making rounds on the web.

As soon as the Sangguniang Kabataan Council of Brgy. Banilad in Nagcarlan, Laguna has posted their most recent project dubbed “Palit Plastic Bottle Sari-Sari Store,” it immediately gained traction from a lot of netizens.
Starting on May 22, 2019, the SK Council of Brgy. Banilad is going to give away free school supplies to those who will give them plastic waste.
For two 1.5L/1.75L plastic bottles, the council will give out one notebook (maximum of eight) or one pencil (maximum of two). One sharpener is equivalent to one plastic bottle. One box of eight colors crayon is equivalent to four plastic bottles.

The youth council also stated on their Facebook page that they accept donations for school supplies.
In the meantime, netizen Richard Sison thinks that this is a very good short-term plan or project.
“Hiting two birds with one stone, plastic problems and school supplies,” says Sison in his comment.
On the other hand, he also thinks that this is not an excellent long-term plan because it encourages people to use plastic bottle in exchange for school supplies.
In the end, he congratulates the youth council for such a great job. At the same time, he challenges them to come up with another project that could be feasible long term.
In any case, this project from the youth council in Laguna is noteworthy. On top of that, it is also worth emulating. It is hoped that this will serve as an inspiration to a lot of individuals in the country, particularly the youth.
