Francisca Susano, born on September 11, 1897, could be the oldest person alive. She was a year older than the Philippine Independence and she also survived two world wars.

Susano, of Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, is a 120 yr. old great great grandma. The minute her record of birth had been verified by the Guinness World Records or the Gerontology Research Group, she will be declared the oldest person alive.

According to Ernesto Susano, Francisca’s grandson, she will turn 120 today, September 11, 2017. She has more than a hundred grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.

Whats her Secret?

She loves eating fresh vegetables which she gets from her farm. She cooks them without any additives that the people of today have gotten used to. She says this is the secret to the long life she has been blessed with. She still walks on her own. Her hearing is still good enough that she still plays the flute.

She got married at the very tender age of 14 and bore fourteen children. Among her 14 children, eight are still living. She never went to school but she and her husband were able to provide for the family’s need by working in the farm as laborers.

Susano, along with 74 other centenarians got Php100,000.00 from the provincial government in Negros Occidental for being the oldest among the seventy-five centenarians. This was during the celebration of the 117th Cinco de Noviembre in Negros.

Centenarians Act of 2016, as signed by former President Benigno Aquino III, grants Php100,000.00 to Filipinos aged 100 above. About 3,500 Filipinos are expected to gain from it.

As of May last year, the oldest person alive was Emma Martina Luigia Morano, 116 of Vercelli, Italy. Emma was born on November 29, 1899, two years after Susano.
