Blogger and Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson verbally attacked Binibining Pilipinas International Mariel de Leon after the latter commented about the recent extrajudicial killings.
Growing Number of Extrajudicial Killings
The beauty queen recently shared her sentiments regarding the increasing number of drug-related killings in the Philippines. Her reaction was due to the questionable circumstances of 17-year-old Kian Loyd Delos Santos’ death.
Mariel expressed her disappointment and emotions on how Filipinos have gotten used to the death of several people due to the war on drugs of the government. Her tweet did not mention any names.
Her tweet read: “It’s hard to wrap my mind around the fact that people are okay with murder because their leader says it is okay.”
In response, Asec. Mocha mocked de Leon and implied that the Binibining Pilipinas International was just a pretty face. A screenshot of de Leon’s tweet was posted along with a caption directly addressing the beauty queen. Uson claimed that there is a difference between murder and killing a criminal.
“Ate wag puro ganda ginagamit mo. Iba ang MURDER at iba ang pagpatay sa mga kriminal. HINDI INUTOS NG AMING PANGULO ANG PATAYIN ANG INOSENTE,” Mocha wrote on Facebook.
She also defended President Duterte and claimed that he does not condone the killing of innocent people. Uson also added that it is not the president’s fault if there are policemen involved in illegal killings.
Uson’s defense is not new. She is an outspoken supporter of the president even during the 2016 elections.
Netizens responded to Uson’s verbal tirade with De Leon.
De Leon responded to the Facebook status saying “Didn’t mention anything specific, but hey! If you’re affected, I guess the shoe fits perfectly! #SashayAway.”
Mocha Son has yet to respond to Mariel De Leon’s tweet as of writing. However, it will not be a surprise if she does. This is not the first time that the two women have traded tweets and posts about each other.
