Marrying his Long Time Girlfriend
Japanese comedian Piko Taro, who is best known for his viral hit song “PPAP” or “Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen,” announced last Friday that he tied the knot with his gravure model girlfriend, Hitomi Yasueda.
Piko Taro, real name Kazuhito Kosaka, mentiod on his blog that he registered for marriage with his 29-year-old girlfriend.
“I will do my best, with all my fighting spirit, at home and at work,” Kosaka wrote on his blog.
Meanwhile, there were some fans of Piko-Taro who were confused with some news since he has mentioned his wife named “Tami” several times before. However, the comedian clarified that since he created the animal-print loving Piko Taro as his alter ego, his “wife” is also part of the act.
“Tami” is described by the “PPAP” singer as a 78-year-old woman whom he met in a hospital restroom. “Tami” has piranha-like teeth.
Hitom Yasueda is a gravure model who is active on Instagram. The 44-year-old Kosaka became acquirances with Yasueda because of work. They have been seeing each other since 2013 despite the 15 years age gap.
Piko Taro’s PPAP music video became popular worldwide. It scored more than 100 million views since its release August last year.
“PPAP” was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the shortest song to enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The 45-second viral song was performed by Piko Taro in sunglasses, leopard-print scarf, and catchy dance steps.
Several renditions of the song were released, including those from popular A-listers. It became popular after pop giant Justin Bieber tweeted it as his “favorite video on the internet.”
Piko Taro also released a longer version of the song while still wearing his trademark garish animal print costume and dancing to nonsensical English lyrics such as “I have a pen. I have an apple. Apple pen” with an orchestra on his back.
