Boyzlife: A Treat For All the 90’s Kids

Boyzlife: An intimate affair

There are songs from the 90s we really know by heart. It’s because songs from the past are irresistibly catchy and can effortlessly swoon every 90’s kids out there.

Name it – from your happy crush, to your first love, down to your first heartbreak, we all know one song from each boyband in the 90’s who has got the perfect lyrics – we can relate to.

Admit it, there was even a time you would play your cassette tape (Side A and Side B) and would blast a Backstreet Boys’ mellow hits, and you would imagine you are in one of their music videos. However, a true blooded boyband fan like me back then would always hope to get married to one of the boyband member.

The most exciting thing about being a fan is that when you discovered that your favorite artist will be having a one-night concert in your town or nearby area.

Recently, members of the 2 famed boybands namely Keith Duffy of Boyzone and Brian McFadden of Westlife have teamed up for Boyzlife. The Manila leg was held at the Kia Theater last December 4, 2017, Tuesday. The show was presented by one of the leading concert promoters in the Philippines, Ovation Productions.

Excited fans arrived early at the venue, and met with their co-fans. Everyone had their smiles tattooed on their faces, and are so eager to enter the venue and see the lads perform.

Boyzlife ticket price ranges from P5750, 4750, 3750, 1750.

The show started with some video montage of Keith and Brian’s Boyzlife journey. They kicked off the night the global hit “When You’re Looking Like That” and “Picture of You”. Everyone stood up their seats and formed a mosh to create a more exciting vibe. Squeals reverberated in the whole venue showing their excitement seeing the lads for a long time in a while.

Plethora of eargasmic delights which the two have performed that night was Westlife’s heart melting “Swear It Again”. I would remember stealing microphone during family reunions and would press the same song all over again.  Both of them also performed songs such as “Words”, “Mandy”, “Baby Can I Hold You”, “I Love The Way You Love Me”, “Love Me For A Reason”, and “No Matter What”.

Brian McFadden even went down the stage their performance of “Queen of My Heart”. One of the amazing things about Brian is that his voice remained the same throughout years of performing. Still looking good too! On the other hand, Keith McDuffy still had those grooves which charmed the spectators.

The show was definitely an intimate affair, especially when Brian sang “If I Let You Go” and hit the high notes perfectly, bringing us all back in 1999. It was then followed by “Flying Without Wings” making the venue a huge karaoke hub, when the audience started singing along.

The evening was capped off with the 2001 humongous hit, “Uptown Girl”.

The Verdict

Personally, I still love and admire the boyband era. Everyone in the venue scream the lyrics the whole night. All went back through the past, momentarily left behind reality, and enjoyed some of the defining moments of their lives.

It is no doubt, 90’s music lives on. Good news? Keith Duffy announced that there are currently done recording their new album. Now, they are off to celebrate Boyzone’s 25th Anniversary. Now who’s excited? Because I am!
