This Hybrid-Electric Plane is Going to Fill the Skies Soon!

When you first saw a flying car on TV, you’ve probably wondered when you will be able to see one and began wishing that one day you will finally get to travel with it. Well, your long wait will soon be over.

Terrafugia, which means “escape the earth” in Latin, is a Massachusetts-based privately held corporation that intends to create a revolution in personal transportation by producing a flying car called TF-X, a street-legal, computer-controlled, four-seat aircraft with wings. This hybrid-electric airplane can fit into a standard single-car garage, can take off from a standing position and can land vertically as well. Moreover, it is capable of “auto-landing” at approved sites and automatically avoids air traffic, bad weather and restricted airspace.

Founded in 2006 by MIT Aeronautics and Management graduates, Terrafugia had projected the delivery of its first units in 2015 or 2016. However, due to changes and upgrades in design, the delivery of the plane-car hybrid may take a couple of years more with a price similar to that of very high-end luxury cars today. Check out the video for more details.

Flying cars have always had a place in a modern man’s dream. Do you think this innovation will lead to the creation of a totally new industry? Share with us your thoughts by leaving your comments below.
