According to a Twitter update posted by Manila Water on Friday, the “reservoirs were not completely” refilled from Thursday until Friday morning, resulting in an “unexpected water service interruption” in several barangays in Quezon City, Mandaluyong, San Juan, and Pasig.

The water supply at La Mesa Dam – a reservoir that supplies water requirement of Metro Manila is currently low due to reduced rainfall brought about the El Nino phenomenon. According to a news report, the water level in La Mesa Dam “reached its lowest in 12 years on Friday and may go down to its critical level of 69 meters in the next two days.”
