Two Dead After Pendulum Ride Snaps In Half At A Theme Park in India
- One of the thrill rides featured in the Kankaria Adventure Park in Ahmedabad is the Discovery pendulum ride
- On July 14, 2019, as the ride was functioning, it suddenly snapped in half during one of its swings and crashed to the ground
- Two were confirmed dead and dozens were injured, and the cause of the accident is still under investigation
Theme parks are fun to visit. There are games that you can play, parades and fireworks, and of course, the rides. Thrill rides are the thing that most park-goers will fall in line for, and is willing to wait for hours just to get the chance to ride a roller coaster or a huge swing. Unfortunately, tragedy struck at one particular theme park.

On July 14, 2019, Kankaria Adventure Park in Ahmedabad, India was open with lots of park visitors. There were those that were excited with going to the rides, and one of the attractions was the Discovery pendulum ride. The seats were arranged in a circle and the entire mechanism would rock you back and forth like a pendulum.
On that day, the ride was functioning normally, when all of a sudden the pendulum snapped in half while it was swinging and it came crashing to the ground. It was caught on video and went viral in social media.
Reports say that there were two casualties of the incident and that dozens more were injured. Everyone involved were adults and no children were present during the incident.
An investigation was opened to find the cause of the accident, with the ride’s maintenance being checked on, and a probe as well was opened to see if the theme park had the right permits to operate.
