Video games cannot be categorized easily nowadays, as there are different types and different genres. There are the first-person shooter games, sports games, racing games, as a few examples. One of the more popular game genre is the horror genre, and one came decided to try taking it on a different level.
Dead by Daylight is a game by Behaviour Interactive, and is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror video game. It was launched back in 2016 but it has slowly gained popularity.
The game would have five players in a match, with one playing as the “Killer” and the other four are the “Survivors.” The main objective of the Killer is to catch all the Survivors and sacrifice them in meat hooks to “The Entity,” which is the god-like character in the game, while the Survivors’ objective is to repair generators to be able to power the Exit Gate switch, in order to escape.
Throughout the run of the game, they were able to get the license to have characters from other horror movie and show franchises to appear in it. Movies like Halloween, with Michael Myers and Laurie Strode, A Nightmare on Elm St., with Freddy Kruger, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with Leatherface, and Scream‘s Ghostface as the latest addition.
With the latest “chapter” on its way to Dead by Daylight, they have teased the new content, and it will feature characters and a setting based on the hit Netflix series Stranger Things.
Stranger Things is a show about supernatural things happening in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana, where monsters came out from the “Upside Down,” which is a mirror universe of the town, and had characters fight for survival against all odds.
In the new chapter of the game, the Demogorgon, which is the creature from the Upside Down, will become the new killer, while for the first time, they will introduce two Survivors in one chapter: Steve Harrington and Nancy Wheeler, while the Hawkins Laboratory will be the new map to be introduced in the game.
The release of the new content is set for September 2019, and the developers have given a preview of the powers and “perks” that players will expect.
This new chapter hopes to excite current players, and those that love Stranger Things might then get interested with the unique gameplay that Dead by Daylight introduces.
