So much is made of us needing to keep fit. But if we find ourselves suffering from a bad back, or a minor ailment, we can use this as an excuse to not go to the gym. Furthermore, going to the gym can be pretty boring! There is nothing more antisocial than sitting there watching other people vainly staring at themselves lifting a weight. But if you want to get fit, it’s about finding ways to make it fun for yourself. Without further ado, let’s give you some methods to get fit without it being boring, and so very vain.

Martial Arts Classes

Whether it’s Shaolin Kung Fu, or a more modest martial art like judo, it can provide a perfect all-over workout. So much is made on the ability to lift a certain weight, but with martial arts, you use the person’s weight against them. While we are purely in the area of getting bigger so we appear stronger, you don’t have to be built like a dumpster, as Bruce Lee has proved!
Boxing
If you really want to get fit, there is nothing quite so agonizing than going full pelt for 60 minutes with an opponent twice your size! Boxing is one of those perfect workouts that combines plyometrics, cardio and makes you realize just how imbalanced you are. A typical boxing lesson will consist of various tried and tested exercises using your own body weight, but when you go one-on-one against someone else, it adds that extra sense of danger but also makes you mentally tougher. This is something that we don’t necessarily do in a gym. Because if we feel the inclination to give up, we can do so when we are by ourselves. But when you are up against someone and you don’t know their limits, it becomes a completely different challenge.
Surfing
Perennially underrated as a way to get fit, it demands that you have a strong core, perfect balance, but are also able to swim against the tide. In preparing to be a good surfer, you need to ensure that you can swim really strongly. Even if you don’t feel you have the ability to do it properly, the preparation alone is demanding. As a way to go from sedentary to mildly fit, surfing can be that shock to the system you really need. At the same time, it’s far from boring! You have the opportunity to go out into the sea with other people and make new friends in the process.

Go To A Dance Class
Social, funky, and incredibly tiring, going to a class like Zumba is the perfect way to acclimatize yourself to a proper cardiovascular workout. Why don’t you make it a little bit more difficult and dress a little bit warmer so you sweat! At the same time, something like hot yoga is a perfect way to get fixed, strengthen your core and your entire body will also sweat out the toxins.
Keeping fit doesn’t have to be boring and you don’t have to stare at yourself in the gym mirror for a couple of hours and kid yourself into thinking you’ve done a great work out! Why don’t you have fun instead?
