Manila, Philippines – The Naval Architect and Marine Engineer Licensure Examinations have just concluded on October 1, 2, and 3, 2019, at the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) testing centers.
Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering are important when it comes to anything related to marine vessels and structures. Marine engineers in particular would handle the technology needed for powering vehicles such as ships.
As with every profession, one has to pass their Licensure Examination before they can be recognized in their field of work.
The coverage of the examination this year are as follows:
- Mathematics, Hydraulics, Strength of Materials, Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, and General Engineering – 20%
- Principles of Marine Engineering including Resistance, Powering, Machinery, Power Plants, Application of Modern Electrical Units, Equipment, Propeller, and Shafting – 20%
- Principles of Naval Architecture including Stability, Flooding, and Subdivision, Speed Selection, Weight Estimates, Economics of Operation – 30%%
- Philippine Merchant Marine Regulation and Code of Ethics – 10%
- Ship Design, Building and Classing Steel and Wooden Vessels, Construction Methods and Practice – 20%
Once the examination period is done, the results are expected to be released two to three business days after the last day of the said period. There may be cases when the results are released earlier than expected.

This year, PRC Board of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering headed by their chairman, Engr. William B. Hernandez, along with Engr. Edward B. Cruz, administered the board exams.
