As the new era begins for Miss Universe with its new owner, the powerhouse countries still have strong delegates for the 71st Miss Universe. However, other countries who wished to bring home the crown for the first time also sent their best delegates.
Among the delegates competing for one of the most prestigious crowns, here are the top 15 final predictions for this year’s Miss Universe.
1. Curaçao – Gabriëla Dos Santos
This year’s number one pick is from Curaçao. Curaçao is a constituent country of the Kingdom of Netherlands. Their representative is an entrepreneur Gabriela Dos Santos who eyes to have the first crown for the country as she became the favorite this year. Her eloquence, elegance, and strong personality already got the Miss Universe vibe.
2. Venezuela – Amanda Dudamel
The second top pick is a fashion designer from a powerhouse country, Venezuela. She became Miss Universe Venezuela in October 2021, which gave her time to prepare for the international stage for more than a year. That time is more than enough for her to be ready to conquer the Universe.
3. Puerto Rico – Ashley Cariño
Third is Ashley Cariño from Puerto Rico. She previously competed in the Miss Universe USA 2021, ranking second runner-up. She competed in Miss Universe Puerto Rico, became the crowd favorite, and won the crown. She is a strong candidate and has always been included in the top picks of pageant experts in every competition she joined.
4. Jamaica – Toshami Calvin
The next pick is from a country that never won a single Miss Universe crown, Jamaica. Toshima Calvin is their representative this year. She advocates for children with special needs. Her intelligence makes her one of the topnotchers contestants this year.
5. Philippines – Celeste Cortesi
Meanwhile, the Philippines is hoping to have its fifth Miss Universe crown. This year, they sent a Filipino-Italian Model, Celeste Cortesi. She was inspired to join the beauty pageant when Pia Wurtzbach won Miss Universe 2015. Despite the controversial Miss Universe USA 2022, the USA delegate this year is undeniably strong. Even though the Miss USA organization is accused of having favorites that led R’bonney Gabriel to win the crown, her performance during the national pageant is impressive. Amidst all of these, R’bonney Gabriel continues to slay and prove that she is worthy of being the representative of the USA to the 2022 Miss Universe pageant.
7. South Africa – Ndavi Nokeri
From a heartbreaking loss last year, South Africa is looking forward to bouncing back this year as they sent Ndavi Nokeri. She is passionate about her advocacy for raising awareness for equal education opportunities. Even before she won Miss Universe South Africa, she had already partnered with various organizations to lessen educational inequality.
8. Colombia – María Fernanda Aristizábal
The 8th on the list is María Fernanda Aristizábal from Colombia. Maria has crowned Miss Colombia in 2019 but was only able to have her international stint this year because of the changes of ownership in the organization. She advocates for mental health. Will this be a perfect time for her to win the Miss Universe Crown?
9. Thailand – Anna Sueangam-iam
Thailand also sent a strong contender this year, which is Anna Sueangam-iam. She is an actress with a rags-to-riches story. She grew up in a dump site because her parents were garbage collectors. From that, she was able to transform herself by studying. She is inspiring enough to become a Miss Universe.
10. Spain – Alicia Faubel
The 10th on the list is Alicia Faubel from Spain. She can speak many languages, including Filipino. She previously lived in the Philippines. She is eloquent and has a strong personality. Will her multilingual ability help her connect Miss Universe’s advocacies to many countries? That will be answered if she wins the crown.
11. Mexico – Irma Miranda
Meanwhile, television host Irma Miranda from Mexico ranked 11 on our final predictions. As a host, she focused on social media to raise awareness of working together to care for the environment. She can conquer the Miss Universe stage through her eloquence and intelligence.
12. India – Divita Rai
India is eyeing their back-to-back title as they sent Divita Rai as their representative. She is an architect. She considers education the most powerful weapon and pledge to advocate to make it accessible for all. Her intelligence and perseverance in her career would become a great inspiration for many.
13. Cambodia – Manita Hang
Advocating youth empowerment, Manita Hang from Cambodia is a great contender this year. She is a French-Cambodian model, and being a beauty queen seems to run in their family’s blood as her mother and sister also competed in beauty pageants in the past. She is focused on encouraging youth to focus on their education. Her elegance and strong convictions make her deserving to be in the top 15.
14. Peru – Alessia Rovegno
Peru wants to take home their crown this year as they have failed to do so in the last 35 years. Among candidates, Alessia Rovegno became one of the favorite contenders this year. At the age of 19, she started modeling and making her way to reach her dreams. She advocates for social justice and equality. Her strong advocacy, stunning beauty, and charming personality will surely help her to bring home the crown.
15. Italy – Virginia Stablum
Last on the list for the Top 15 prediction is Virginia Stablum of Italy. She is an international model that has worked on some of the best brands, such as Dior Beauty, Shiseido, L’Oreal, and Maybelline. Ever since she was young, she has loved to study languages that pushed her to learn English, German and Spanish. She is also a social media influencer who collaborates yearly with various brands that support women in causes like violence, breast cancer, and financial independence. Will elegance help her to get the Miss Universe crown?
Those women are just 15 out of 84 delegates for this year’s pageant. Will they continue to stand out as the pageant proceed? It would depend on who is destined for the most coveted Miss Universe Crown. The 71st Miss Universe pageant will be held at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States, on January 14, 2023. Jeannie Mai will host the competition and Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo, while Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and Zuri Hall will serve as backstage correspondents.
