Manila, Philippines – With only a few weeks left before Christmas, there are some that are already trying to write their own Christmas lists and are looking for places to go in order to complete them. Shopping malls are the way to go and the city of Manila has a few places where inexpensive gift ideas are available.
Isetann is located in the city of Manila and has been running since 1980’s. The Isetann Cinerama Recto was also established as a way of competing with other malls such as SM City North EDSA and currently, Isetann now has five different branches.

On October 9, 2019, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has ordered the closure of Isetann Mall. The mayor himself led the closure and was seen locking the doors to the establishment.

From an article in Rappler, the mayor said the establishment “did not have an existing business permit as a lessor” and that Tri-Union Properties Incorporated, the owner of Isetann, has misinterpreted their business area and number of employees, as “under its valid business permit, there is a declared area of 1,000 square meters with 10 employees or personnel.”

In a follow-up article from ABS-CBN, Isetann issued a statement through their Facebook account that they are preparing to re-open on Friday, October 11. The post was deleted and there are no additional information from them.
Mayor Moreno did state that the mall can re-open once they are able to show that they have complied with all the requirements.
