Duterte finally breaks silence on the issue: “Banggaan lang ng Barko ‘yan’

As President Rodrigo Duterte finally breaking his silence about the sinking of a Filipino boat to Chinese vessel, celebrities took to their social media pages to air their comments regarding the issue.

In his speech during the 121st-anniversary celebration of the Philippine Navy, Duterte finally addressed the issue dismissing that it’s just a maritime incident.

“Sa mga pulitiko na bobo, gusto papuntahin ‘yung Navy. You do not send gray ships there, banggaan lang ng barko ‘yan,” Duterte.

“A maritime incident is a maritime incident. It is best investigated. And I do not now issue a statement because there is no investigation and there is no result. Then the only thing we can do is to wait and give the other party the right to be heard. Importante ‘yan eh (That’s important),” Duterte added.

Singer-songwriter Bullet Dumas shared on his Twitter account a Rappler news clip about Duterte’s stand on the issue.

Actor and spoken word artist Juan Miguel Severo said that the people who questions the story of the fishermen are traitors.

“Paisa lang. P*t*ngina ng mga pinagdududahan pa ang kuwento ng mga mangingisdang ‘yon. Putangina ng mga iniintriga at minamaliit ang nangyari. Mga taksil sa kababayan at sa bayan! Mga bulag na panatiko!” he said.

Kapuso actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith shared a news clip stating that Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi said that if the Chinese fishing vessel intentionally rammed Fishing Boat Gem-Ver, they would have left bigger damage.

Ethel posted on Twitter that the former host is a journalist but doesn’t know how to understand a news.

“Grabe yung number 4 nya na “wala man lang namatay o malubhang nasugatan sa kanila.” Diba sabi ng mga mangingisdang Pinoy na they rowed using small boats for 2 hours to reach the 4 nautical miles na location ng mga Vietnamese? Former journalist pero di marunong makibalita. Charot!” Ethel said.
